SUMMARY

Co West Transportation, LLC dba Telluride Express, Alpine Express, Steamboat Express, Roaring Fork Express and Maws Transportation is a year-round, full-service ground transportation company dedicated to providing safe, prompt, and professional service. We provide daily scheduled, shared-ride shuttles to/from the Airport and rideshare or private vehicle services. Telluride Express operates local public transit as well as charter service to any destination and provides all wedding and special event transportation needs. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Reports to the Director of Operations and Dispatch. Duties include carrying out functions pertaining to the safe, courteous, and efficient operation of assigned vehicles. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, employing defensive driving techniques, maintaining professional courtesy, making public address announcements, properly answering questions and solving concerns of passengers, and exercising prudent judgment under a variety of constantly changing operating conditions. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Excellent driving skills and good knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
  2. Transports passengers to and from predetermined locations in a safe and timely manner.
  3. Transports students for Telluride School District and other School Bus Contracts (if “S” endorsement is possessed)
  4. Abide by all specific School Bus Training, Regulations and policies.
  5. Performs a Vehicle Inspection Report through the electronic log on each vehicle to ensure the vehicle is safe to drive.   
  6. Reports any safety defects to the dispatcher and the fleet staff.
  7. Obeys all traffic rules and regulations guiding the operation of transportation services. 
  8. Adheres to the Hours of Service rules.
  9. Maintains exceptional customer service skills to be able to relate effectively with passengers.
  10. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  11. Greet customers, help them enter the vehicle, and assist in loading luggage.
  12. Maintains appropriate communication with and follows directions from the dispatcher.
  13. Own a smartphone that will enable the download for Hudson and Samsara capabilities.
  14. Correctly collect fares and cash pending fares from passengers.
  15. Completes appropriate company paperwork.
  16. Reports accidents or other traffic disruptions to dispatchers.
  17. Keeps the vehicle neat and clean and cleans the vehicle after shift, in accordance with the Telluride Express, Alpine Express, and Steamboat Express cleaning processes.
  18. Dress in a neat and professional manner in accordance with the Telluride Express, Alpine Express, and Steamboat Express dress code.
  19. Assists disabled passengers, when requested.
  20. Basic math skills are required for proper documentation of work details.
  21. Commits to scheduled shifts, with flexibility in mind for weekends and special events.
  22. Hours include weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
  23. Other duties as assigned by management.

SPECIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE

  1. Able to correctly/positively convey company policies, monitor compliance and procedures to others.
  2. Reports on a regular basis to the SMART Supervisor.
  3. Ability to train and mentor Drivers in all aspects of driver responsibilities.
  4. Ability to carry out assignments independently, efficiently, and effectively.
  5. Should be able to drive year-round.
  6. Positive role model and a good communicator to other staff members.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  1. Valid commercial drivers license (CDL) required.
  2. 2+ years of proven experience in commercial truck driving preferred.
  3. High School diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent.
  4. At least 23 years of age.
  5. A valid regular or commercial driver’s license with 5 or less points on a Motor Vehicle Record.
  6. Highly self-motivated and directed.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Receive a Positive pre and periodical controlled substances test result.
  2. Qualify for a fingerprint-based criminal history record check.
  3. Become physically qualified to drive by obtaining a Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  4. Excellent driving skills and good knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
  5. Working knowledge of communities and routes within the area of responsibility.
  6. Ability to exert in excess of 50 lbs. constantly to move luggage.
  7. Occasional overnight travel. 

UNDERSTANDING

This is a non-exempt hourly position that is eligible for time and one-half of the regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
