SUMMARY 

Works directly under the supervision of the RTA/Bustang Supervisor and the Director of Operations to assist with RTA vehicles the routes, driver orientation, driver evaluation, and driver training. Perform clerical and related duties with the applications of Alpine Express. 

 Wage: $55,500+ Annual DOE

SUPERVISION RECEIVED 

Receives general supervision from the RTA/Bustang Supervisor and the Director of Operations. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Facilitate assistance for drivers for vehicle breakdowns/accidents or relief shift during bad weather. 
  1. Driver back-up during shift hours.  
  1. Assist with bus staging for each shift.  Helping bus washers rotate buses for cleaning or move inside for the start of shifts and fueling. 
  1. Help maintain stops, identify trash removal and repairs.  
  1. Randomly ride with drivers and provide breaks. 
  1. Implementing and updating of the RTA schedule as needed.  
  1. Organizing RTA and Bustang paperwork.   
  1. Oversee Bustang arrival and completion of shift, to include verification of Bustang funds and completion of driver’s paperwork. 
  1. Assist with the administrative duty of the RTA. 
  1. Assist RTA/Bustang Supervisor with scheduling and dispatching.  
  1. Training of new RTA drivers. 
  1. Wear appropriate clothing, i.e., no holes or rips in pants, shirts, blouses or any outerwear.  Clothing that can be deemed provocative is discouraged, e.g., no short shorts, no low-cut tops, etc. 
  1. Answer telephones in a friendly and professional manner always.  Screen calls and channel them to the proper personnel or handle the call personally if appropriate. 
  1. Understand all Alpine Express office forms and procedures and ask for management assistance if needed. 
  1. Make a sincere effort to become familiar with the area and the city, enabling you to know approximate distances between locations to answer customer’s questions about activities and the area in general. 
  1. Handle any complaints in an expeditious, courteous, and professional manner either by handling the situation if appropriate, writing a notable event, or by informing management immediately. 
  1. Listen to customer needs and concerns in order to better serve the customer’s needs. 
  1. Maintain a work area in a clean and organized fashion. 
  1. Sweeping floors in office and shop, daily 
  1. Cleaning/organizing office and bathroom, daily 
  1. Work with and assist co-workers in the performance of their duties. 
  1. Perform all responsibilities assigned, including tasks assigned to specific shifts. 
  1. Filling in with bus washing, as needed 
  1. This is a seasonal position. 
  1. Hours include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. 
  1. Other duties as assigned by management. 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

Must be able to learn computer and telephone skills techniques.  Demonstrate good communication and people skills.  Must be able to work long hours during the rush periods.  Must be a team player and have a willingness to learn.  

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION 

  1. High School diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent Requires at least two years of related work experience.   
  1. Work requires advanced computer literacy skills and keyboard proficiency to operate in multiple windows and manipulate files.  
  1. Work requires intermediate to advanced skills in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.   
  1. Strong organizational skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management and outside agencies.   
  1. Highly self-motivated and directed. 

 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS 

  1. Work is performed in an office environment 
  1. Sitting (working at a desk), using a computer – up to 20% 
  1. Standing – up to 70% 
  1. Walking – up to 0%
